Ladies and gentleman… the “catwalk” is officially open for international real estate buyers. What are you waiting for?

We all know that Lisbon is a city that is in the spotlight when it comes to tourism and food. The economy is glowing and the catwalk is open for real estate investors.

According to the Portuguese Association of Real Estate Promoters and Investors, one in every four houses was bought by foreigners. They are responsible for 25% of the sales in Portugal and these numbers are rising.

Everyone wants a piece of Lisbon and your opportunities to sell are here… right now!

But where are the hotspots and who’s buying ?

The ones that are buying the most in Lisbon are the French and according to the Portuguese Statistics Institute, there are a few areas that seduce more buyers. We are talking about the well known area of Cais do Sodré, Chiado, Marquês de Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade.

In 2017, Cais do Sodré and Chiado prices have risen more than 40% and Marquês de Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade more than 46%.

In practical terms we are talking about prices above EUR 3’000 EUR/m2 in a city where the average price is 2’300 EUR/m2. This is a high price to pay… but hey… who doesn’t want to be Madonna’s neighbour?

It is also interesting to notice that in Portugal more than 80% of housing on offer in Portugal took on average less than 6 months to get sold.
